PIERRE, S.D. - The Attorney General’s Office and the Division of Criminal Investigation will conduct an active shooter exercise at approximately 3:00 p.m. on Wednesday, May 30, 2018, at the George S. Mickelson Criminal Justice Center in Pierre. 

The Attorney General’s Office is working with the Pierre Police Department, Hughes County Sheriff’s Office, Hughes County Emergency Management, South Dakota Office of Emergency Management, Central South Dakota Communications, EMS and Avera St. Mary’s Hospital to practice a coordinated response to an active shooter incident. The exercise will consist of a simulated emergency inside the Mickelson Building.

This training gives local and state law enforcement partners in Pierre the opportunity to practice a coordinated response, which is critical in an active shooter incident.
