PIERRE, S.D. – This week the Attorney General’s Consumer Protection Office will join SHIINE and Medicare & Medicaid Services Representatives to discuss the mailing of new Medicare cards to 170,000 South Dakota residents.
The new cards have started to arrive in local mailboxes in South Dakota. Social Security numbers have been removed from them to prevent identity theft against seniors, keep scammers from using Medicare benefits illegally, and protect tax dollars.
The following two press events have been scheduled to discuss the new cards and how to avoid the scams associated with the distribution.
