PIERRE, S.D. – Attorney General Marty Jackley and Gregory County States Attorney Amy Bartling announced today that a Stanley County jury returned a verdict finding Chance Harruff, 47, Dallas, guilty of second degree murder of Kristi Olson. Second degree murder is a class B felony and a mandatory life sentence in the state penitentiary.
“I want to thank the men and women serving on the jury for their service on this difficult case, along with investigators and prosecutors for their tireless work,” said Jackley. “Our thoughts remain with the Olson family.”
On June 1, 2017, Kristi Olson was found dead in her Dallas home as a result of physical abuse including strangulation.
This case was investigated by the Gregory County Sheriff’s Office, Gregory Police Department and the Division of Criminal Investigation and prosecuted by the Gregory County States Attorney and the Attorney General’s Office.
