PIERRE, S.D. –  Attorney General Marty Jackley and Bennett County States Attorney Sarah Harris announced today that Daniel Ceplecha, 58, Martin and Rangler Ceplecha, 24, Martin, were each sentenced today on one count of manslaughter in the first degree, both receiving life sentences.

Charges stem from an incident at Daniel Ceplecha’s residence in Martin that resulted in Daniel Ceplecha and Rangler Ceplecha shooting and killing Moses Red Bear. 

This case was investigated by the Martin Police Department and Division of Criminal Investigation and prosecuted by the Bennett County States Attorney and the Attorney General’s Office.
