Attorney General Jackley responds to Motion to Amend Complaint in Janis v. Nelson Voting Rights Case
PIERRE, S.D.- Attorney General Marty Jackley confirms that the American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU) has filed two previous complaints in this matter. Now the ACLU is seeking to file a third complaint alleging that the State improperly denied certain classes of felons the right to vote. Throughout this litigation it has been and remains the State’s position that it has not improperly denied any convicted felon, irrespective of race, the right to vote.
