Burns Pleads to Rape Charges
(Pierre) – Attorney General Mark Barnett said that Allan Burns, 35, of Mitchell pleaded guilty today in Circuit Court to one count of 3rd degree rape, a Class 3 Felony. Burns was indicted by a Davison County Grand Jury in March and was accused of raping a 15-year-old girl in Mitchell.
As part of today’s hearing, the Judge also extended the ‘no contact provision’ to not only the victim but to all juveniles.
Sentencing is scheduled for June 27 in Mitchell. Burns faces a maximum sentence of fifteen years in the penitentiary and a fifteen thousand-dollar fine. He is currently in custody at the Davison County Jail.
