Attorney General Larry Long Announces Consumer Recoveries

PIERRE, S.D. - Attorney General Larry Long said today that his Division of Consumer Protection recovered $11,444,236 for South Dakota consumers this past fiscal year, July 1, 2005 to June 30, 2006. The Division investigated 2,777complaints, and closed 3,018 files. "The Consumer Protection Division provides a valuable service to South Dakotans," said Long. "Whether it is education or complaint mediation, our consumer investigators work very hard to fight fraud and our year end numbers are a result of that work."
