Two Arrested and Arraigned on Bribery and Grand Theft Charges in Pierre
PIERRE, S.D. - Attorney General Larry Long said today that Douglas E. Andrews, 62, Rapid City and Clayton R. Sonnenschein, 61, Pierre, were both indicted Friday on seven counts of Bribery of A Public Officer and one count of Grand Theft. The charges were issued by the Hughes County Grand Jury. Both men have been arrested and released on personal recognizance bonds. Arraignments are set for 1 p.m. Monday at the Hughes County Courthouse.
Douglas E. Andrews is a real estate broker in Rapid City who is accused of paying bribes to Clayton R. Sonnenschein, who at the time was in charge of the South Dakota Department of Transportation land purchases along Interstate 90, in the Rapid City area.
The case is being investigated by the Division of Criminal Investigation and prosecuted by the Attorney General’s Office.
