Sioux Falls Man Sentenced for Grand Theft

(Pierre) – Today Judge Joseph Neiles sentenced Keith Edward Lane Jr. to 18 months in the state penitentiary and to pay $986.22 in restitution.

In January, Lane pled guilty to grand theft for stealing state property.  During the summer of 2001 Lane had served as a seasonal employee for the Department of Transportation.  Part of his employment gave him access to a State vehicle that contained a state gas credit card.  After Lane was released from his employment, he took the gas credit card and used it for his personal vehicle as well as for some of his friend’s vehicles.  The unauthorized charges took place from November 2001 until April 2002 and amounted to approximately $970.

Lane’s prosecution was handled by the South Dakota Attorney General’s Office.
