NATIONAL CONSUMER PROTECTION WEEK
(Pierre) – Attorney General Larry Long announced today that South Dakota is participating in the sixth annual National Consumer Protection Week which runs from February 1-7, 2004. The theme, “Financial Literacy” focuses on the skills consumers need to make wise financial decisions.
“We come into contact with financial transactions on a daily basis,” said Long. “Whether we are buying groceries, refinancing a home loan, or paying monthly bills, every financial decision has some impact on our lives. Our goal is to help educate South Dakotans so that they can make wise buying choices.”
During Consumer Protection Week the Attorney General’s website will offer a different financial tip each day. Monday’s tip will include information on credit counseling and debit management companies and what to avoid.
