Additional Information on the Triple Fatal Crash in Hutchinson County 

PIERRE, S.D.- Attorney General Larry Long is releasing preliminary information regarding the triple fatal crash in Davison County.

Lyle Edward Doering, 42, Mitchell, abducted his three children at knife point on Thursday evening at approximately 6:30 p.m. The abduction took place at the home of the children’s grandmother located in rural Ethan. Doering tied up the children’s grandmother and then took the children in the grandmother’s vehicle. The grandmother was able to get free and called 911. Doering’s vehicle was located by a Hanson County Deputy when the high-speed pursuit began.

The investigation is ongoing and has been a joint effort of the Division of Criminal Investigation, Davison County Sheriff’s Office, Hanson County Sheriff’s Office, Hutchinson County Sheriff’s Office, McCook County Sheriff’s Office and the South Dakota Highway Patrol.
