Attorney General Names Chief Deputy
PIERRE, S.D.- Attorney General Larry Long announced today that Charles McGuigan has been appointed Chief Deputy Attorney General effective immediately. McGuigan joined the South Dakota Attorney General's Office in 1991 where he worked primarily on natural resource issues, Indian Law and legislative issues. For the past 12 months McGuigan has served as the Legal Director for the Conference of Western Attorneys General (CWAG).
McGuigan was born and raised in South Dakota. He is a 1988 Graduate of the University of South Dakota. In 1991 he graduated from the University of Montana School of Law with honors and was on the editorial board of the Public Land Law Review. He and his wife Darcy make their home in Pierre with their two sons Andy, a sophomore at Pierre Riggs High and Alex an 8th grader at Georgia Morris Middle School.
