Special Agent of the Year Recipient Honored
PIERRE, S.D.- On May 29th Attorney General Larry Long presented the first annual Special Agent of the Year award to Brett Garland. Garland, who resides in Rapid City, was selected by a panel of his peers and members of the administration to be the first recipient of this award. The award was created to recognize the extraordinary work and dedication to one recipient among the 42 field agents within the Division of Criminal Investigation. The award was dedicated in memory of Special Agent Michael Braley. Agent Braley died unexpectedly at his home on April 27th, 2008. Agent Braley’s wife Jane and two sons, Michael and Patrick were at the ceremony to present the award (photo below).
Attorney General Long also presented an additional award to employee Patty Gall. She was nominated and given the Civilian Employee of the Year for 2007. Patty has been an employee for the Division of Criminal Investigation since 1962.
