Denver Woman Arrested in Altercation with Custer County Police Officers 

PIERRE, S.D.-  Kachina McAlexander, 31, Denver was arrested on March 24, 2009, on 3 counts of attempted murder. On the evening of March 24, 2009 two Custer County Deputies and one Highway Patrol Officer were dispatched to the Super Eight Motel west of Custer for a welfare check on McAlexander. The officers made contact with McAlexander in her hotel where she was found with a gun in her hand. McAlexander was ordered to put down her weapon and come out of the room. During this altercation the suspect discharged the weapon several times in the direction of the officers. None of the officers were hurt and the suspect was taken into custody.

The case remains under investigation with the Division of Criminal Investigation and the Custer County Sheriff’s Office.
