Further Charges Filed in Roberts County Destructive Device Case

 

PIERRE, S.D.-   Attorney General Marty Jackley and the Robert County State’s Attorney Kerry Cameron announce amended charges have been filed in the case of State of South Dakota v. Joseph Thomas Hansen. The amended charges include 2 counts of SALE, TRANSPORTATION, OR POSSESSION OF DESTRUCTIVE DEVICE (SDCL 22-14A-4; Class 4 Felony; Maximum Penalty: 10 years imprisonment and/or $20,000 fine) and 1 count of UNAUTHORIZED POSSESSION OF SUBSTANCE WITH INTENT TO MAKE DESTRUCTIVE DEVICE (SDCL 22-14A-13; Class 5 Felony; Maximum Penalty: 5 years imprisonment and/or $10,000 fine).

The defendant remains in custody with the court having set a $500,000.00 bond requirement. The defendant is presumed innocent until proven guilty.

The next hearing in this case is presently scheduled for 1:30pm on Tuesday, September 14, 2010, at the Roberts County Courthouse in Sisseton, SD.

This is a joint investigation by Sisseton Police Department, Roberts County Sheriff’s Office, Division of Criminal Investigation, Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms, and the Sioux Falls Police Department.
