PIERRE, S.D.- Attorney General Marty Jackley announced today that William S. Wray, 26, Rapid City, was arrested last night on one count of possession of child pornography and one count of sexual contact with a child. The possession of child pornography charge is a class 4 felony with a maximum penalty of 10 years in the state penitentiary and the sexual contact with a child charge is a class 3 felony with a maximum penalty of 15 years in the state penitentiary.

 

Wray was hired by the Pennington County Sheriff’s Office in August of 2010 as a deputy sheriff. He was suspended from duty the day the investigation began and his employment was terminated prior to the arrest. 

 

The case is being investigated by the South Dakota Division of Criminal Investigation. Wray is presumed innocent until proven guilty.
