Martin Woman Indicted on Murder Charges

 

PIERRE, S.D.- Attorney General Marty Jackley said today that Tera Gilger, 22, Martin, was indicted earlier this week on 6 counts stemming from an incident involving her newborn baby boy. Counts include one count of second degree murder, class B felony with a mandatory penalty of life in prison, two counts of first degree manslaughter, class C felony with penalty up to life in prison, one count of second degree manslaughter, class 4 felony with penalty of ten years in prison, one count of child abuse, class 3 felony with penalty of 15 years in prison and one count of desertion of a child under the age of six, class 4 felony with penalty of ten years in prison.
 
Gilger is innocent until proven guilty.
 
The case continues to be investigated by the Division of Criminal Investigation and will be prosecuted by the Attorney General’s Office and the Bennett County States Attorney.
