PIERRE, S.D. – At the recent meeting of the National Association of Attorneys General (NAAG), Attorney General Marty Jackley was selected to serve as Co-Chair of the Criminal Law Committee along with New Jersey Attorney General Paula Dow. The Criminal Law Committee provides support to State Attorneys General as it relates to public safety, law enforcement, and legislative issues.
Attorney General Jackley also serves as a member of the Tobacco Advisory Committee. The Committee works on the implementation and enforcement of the Tobacco Master Settlement Agreement (MSA). While presently in litigation, South Dakota’s share of the MSA payment is approximately 27 million dollars annually.
Attorney General Jackley has also been selected to serve as the 2nd Vice Chair of the Conference of Western Attorney Generals. The Conference of Western Attorney Generals addresses emerging legal topics along with focusing on common areas of interest to the west including water, fish and wildlife, public lands, minerals, environment and Indian law.
“I am honored to work with my colleagues in these areas which will assist me to identify and address public safety and financial issues that directly impact South Dakota,” said Jackley.
