PIERRE, S.D. – Attorney General Marty Jackley, Rapid City Police Chief Steve Allender, Pennington County Sheriff Kevin Thom and Pennington County States Attorney Glenn Brenner said today that the investigation into the tragic shooting of Rapid City Police Officers James Ryan McCandless, Nick Armstrong and Tim Doyle continues by the Division of Criminal Investigation.
Officer James Ryan McCandless has lost his life in the line of duty. The shooting suspect, Daniel John Tiger, 22, Rapid City, died this afternoon at the Rapid City Regional Hospital.
At the completion of the investigation, the South Dakota Division of Criminal Investigation will issue a case report and shooting summation to be reviewed by the Attorney General.
“I would like to extend my thoughts and prayers to all of the Officers of the Rapid City Police Department and the Officers’ families and loved ones. The Rapid City Police Department has demonstrated exceptional professionalism and courage throughout this difficult time,” said Attorney General Jackley.
