2012 Attorney General Ballot Explanations for Potential Initiated Measures

 

PIERRE, S.D. –   Attorney General Marty Jackley announces the release of the following Attorney General ballot explanations for potential initiated measures for the November 2012 general election that are subject to the petition process:
 
  1. Initiated Measure to increase state general sales and use taxes for additional K-12 public education and Medicaid funding.
  2. Initiated Measure to change the presidential election process.
 
If the required 15,855 petition signatures are successfully obtained and certified by the Secretary of State, these initiatives will be placed on the November 2012 general election ballot.
 
The Attorney General is statutorily responsible for providing a ballot explanation that is objective, clear, and a simple summary to assist the voters on the purpose and effect of a proposed measure.
