Jerauld County Sheriff’s Office to Create K9 Unit with Help from Drug Control Fund

PIERRE, S.D.  – Attorney General Marty Jackley announced today that the Jerauld County Sheriff’s Office has been awarded $15,000 for a drug dog and related start-up costs. The money was awarded out of the Drug Control Fund. The award will assist local law enforcement in drug control and apprehension purposes.

“The Drug Control Fund allows law enforcement to continue to combat controlled substance abuse by funding local programs such as this K-9 Unit,” said Jackley. “Awarding the Jerauld County Sheriff’s Office is beneficial not only to the communities in Jerauld County, but to law enforcement and public safety statewide.”

“We are very thankful to be a recipient of this award,” said Jerauld County Sheriff Jason Weber. “Fighting the growing drug problem in our community is a top priority and these resources will greatly help our efforts.”
