2012 Attorney General Ballot Explanation Released for HB 1234 Referral
PIERRE, S.D. - Attorney General Marty Jackley announces today he has delivered to the Secretary of State the following Attorney General ballot explanation for Referred Law 16, which is the referral of HB 1234 that will be on the November 2012 general election ballot. Referred Law 16- An education reform act to establish a teacher scholarship program; create a program for math and science teacher bonuses; create a program for teacher merit bonuses; mandate a uniform teacher and principal evaluation system; and eliminate state requirements for teacher tenure.
The Attorney General is statutorily responsible for providing a ballot explanation that is objective, clear, and a simple summary to assist the voters on the purpose and effect of a proposed measure.
