Former Wagner Chief of Police Sentenced in Misprision of a Felony Case
PIERRE, S.D.- Attorney General Marty Jackley announced today that James A. Chaney, 44, Wagner, was sentenced today to serve 180 days in jail and $1,000 fine on one count of misprision of a felony, class 1 misdemeanor. All was suspended on the conditions that Chaney complete 120 hours of community service within the next four months. Charges stemmed from Chaney’s failure to report drug paraphernalia at his place of residence.
This case was investigated by the Division of Criminal Investigation and was prosecuted by the Attorney General’s Office.
