State Files Response in Planned Parenthood Suit
(Pierre) – The Attorney General’s Office filed a response Friday to a pending motion in the Planned Parenthood’s lawsuit. The response was filed in federal district court.
South Dakota law states that during the second trimester, abortions can only be performed in a hospital or clinic that has an emergency blood supply available. Planned Parenthood wants state law overturned. This would give them the right to perform abortions at their facility during the second trimester.
Planned Parenthood filed the lawsuit against the State of South Dakota on January 22.
The court is expected to hand down a decision later this summer.
