                 Attorney General’s Office to Review Officer Involved Shooting in Rapid City
 

PIERRE, S.D.  –  Attorney General Marty Jackley confirms that the Division of Criminal Investigation, at the request of the Rapid City Police Department, is investigating the officer involved shooting that occurred February 21, 2013.  The incident occurred outside the Rapid City Public Library in Rapid City, South Dakota. The 20 year-old suspect involved in the shooting is currently in critical condition at the Rapid City Regional Hospital.
                                         
Rapid City Police responded to call for service at the Rapid City Public Library. The incident escalated and resulted in Rapid City Police Officer Jerry Moore shooting the suspect.
 
At the completion of the investigation, the South Dakota Division of Criminal Investigation will issue a case report and shooting summation to be reviewed by the Attorney General, Pennington County States Attorney and the Rapid City Police Department for a final determination on the officers’ action.  The release of the summary report is anticipated within 30 days.
