Buffalo County Woman Arrested in Connection with Death of 4 Year-Old Child

PIERRE, S.D.-  Attorney General Marty Jackley and local prosecutor David Natvig confirm the death of a 4 year-old child in Buffalo County.

Donika Gonzales, 22, Gann Valley has been initially arrested and charged with one count of felony abuse or cruelty to a minor, class 3 felony, maximum penalty of 15 years imprisonment and/or a $30,000 fine. Charges stem from an incident that occurred on February 21, 2013, at a residence in rural Gann Valley, South Dakota.

Gonzales is presumed innocent until such time as proven guilty.

Agencies that assisted in this arrest were the Buffalo County Sheriff’s Office and the Division of Criminal Investigation.
