Police Management Study

The Police Management Study is a service our office provides to agencies as a valid means of comparing expenditures, resources, policies and practices of departments across the State. Many law enforcement administrators have found the Police Management Study invaluable in preparing budgets and applying for grants. In addition, the results should provide the Chiefs with a substantial basis from which to justify future managerial decisions.

The Police Management Study contains statewide management data pertaining to South Dakota Police Departments. The purpose of these bi-annual surveys is to collect information on budgets, per capita cost of law enforcement, personnel benefits, salaries, specialized equipment, weapons, turnover, training, etc.
