Welcome to the DCI Website. As you look through the sections that describe the duties of the Division of Criminal Investigation, you will notice that we are very busy working in the background to keep South Dakota citizens safe. Many of our different jobs within the DCI go without public recognition, but remain the lifeline of support to your local law enforcement agencies. Conducting criminal investigations, keeping criminal records, training law enforcement officers and operating a state of the art forensic laboratory are just a few of the jobs that we are statutorily obligated to conduct.

Our mission is to provide comprehensive criminal justice services, utilizing highly trained and ethical professionals.
