Press Conference Seeking Public’s Assistance and to Unveil New Technology
PIERRE – Attorney General Marty Jackley, Lawrence County States Attorney John Fitzgerald, Lawrence Country Sheriff’s Office and the Division of Criminal Investigation held a press conference today to address the public on the use of new technology, 3-D facial approximation, in Lawrence County cold case. In February of 2000, skeletal remains of an unidentified man were discovered north of St. Onge. Cause of death was determined to be homicide from multiple gunshot wounds.
“The latest scientific developments in facial approximation are presenting us with this opportunity for public assistance with solving a cold case murder and bringing closure to a victim’s family.”
With the use of the FBI 3-D facial approximation, law enforcement is able to release updated photographs of the victim. The 3-D technology creates a three-dimensional head shot, created to give investigators and the public a better idea of how the man looked before his death. Attached is the poster with the 3-D photos as well as the sketch drawing that was created when the body was discovered.
